Hi everyone,
I’m still blogging about how to use Twitter Tools WordPress plugin on your website. Just when I think I’m finished, I uncover some other useful information I think you can use.
Today I’m tackling the plugin settings. There are 13 settings just on the options page, so I will continue next week. And, there are several I don’t have a clue what they do, so I’ll have to put them off until I figure it out.
Start here:
WordPress Dashboard/Settings/Twitter Tools
The page looks like this but without the numbers:
Let’s start with number one:
1. Twitter Username/Password – Twitter Tools uses this information to login to your account. After you enter the login information, click Test Login Info. This will connect you to Twitter and verify your connection. If your posts stop updating later, come back here and test your login info again. This will reconnect you.
2. Enable option to tweet when you post in your blog?
You can find this in the sidebar of your blog page. The default is yes. Leave as is and you will be able to put your 140 characters into the text field and post your tweet.
3. Tweet prefix for new blog posts:
See how the name of my blog comes first? That’s what I entered in the tweet prefix field. The plugin added the name of my post, The Mechanics of Twitter Tools, and the url. More about the url later, but I didn’t want to use a shortener. There are two included in the settings.
4. Set this on by default?
I left this on Yes. The settings also mention something about “Also determines tweeting for posting via XML-RPC”. To be honest, I don’t understand this. And my target audience probably won’t either. *SMILE*
I cannot stress enough: SAVE and then SAVE and then SAVE again!
Okay, that’s all for today. Stay tuned for next week’s post in which I’ll continue through the settings.
